"After numerous watercolors of flowers, I noticed more and more how much joy it gave me to develop more and more from the realistic representation to much more expressive and experimental design. Because no other topic had allowed me so far to get involved in the development of my expression and abstraction as it seemed possible here. From then on, expressive flower painting became an almost daily ritual that should also have a considerable influence on the implementation of my other motifs. Sunflowers in all stages from blooming to withering have particularly impressed me from the beginning and so over the past six months I have created numerous works that dealt with them. Obviously, my depiction of the motif is very individual and so I was asked more often whether I could show the process of creating my sunflower watercolors. The idea for this workshop was born.
Since it was more important to me from the beginning how I paint than what I paint, I would like to demonstrate my painting style here. Here the combination of video and book seemed to me the most sensible, because my painting can only really be understood in the movement of the brushes and the flow of colors on the paper.
Certainly my style of painting is very individual. There are so many other ways to approach the subject and it is important that you develop your own handwriting. Nevertheless, I would like to motivate you to try it my way. It's not about the perfect end result, but about the perfect painting experience. This absolutely requires the courage to give space to chance and let things happen without the usual will to absolute control. One stroke of the brush inspires the next and the result is open to the end.
